Linda Chavez: "I got my degree in English literature. I was not a very good student in high school. I skipped school a lot not to go out doing bad things. I stayed home and read. My dad had taught me to read as a child, before the age of six. And one of my first memories is getting my library card that the first thing we did when we got to Denver is I went to the library to get a library card. So, I ended up, you know, doing quite well in college and went to graduate school as well."

David Rubenstein: "Why did you pick English literature? Not some other subject?"

Linda Chavez: "I loved books, I love literature it was my first love. It's actually still my greatest love is for literature."
