2:58Now PlayingRoy Cooper, the former North Carolina governor, delivered a victory speech Tuesday night after winning the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate race in the Tar Heel State.
“We have a long way to go until November,” he told supporters. “I’ve never been in a race that’s this crucial for the people of North Carolina and for our country and I need all of you to get this job done.”
Mr. Cooper will face Michael Whatley, the former Republican National Committee chair, in the November general election to succeed retiring Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC).
