1:14Now PlayingRep. Greg Casar (D-TX) confronted Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) over funding for the Homeland Security Department as the senator arrived Monday at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to deliver hamburgers to TSA agents, who have gone without pay since Feb. 14.
Democrats have repeatedly blocked funding for the entire agency, arguing that reforms to immigration enforcement operations are needed first, while Republicans have blocked Democratic attempts to fund agencies unrelated to immigration enforcement, like TSA.
"Why don't you tell your Democrats to vote to pay these poor people?" Sen. Cornyn told Rep. Casar, saying it was "not acceptable" to fund only some agencies within the department.
"Instead of bringing people burgers, he should bring them their paychecks, which involves funding TSA," Rep. Casar said after the exchange.
