Beverly Gage: "I'd say the thing that's surprising about teaching is that you keep getting older, but they stay the same age. And so I teach the 20th century. But mostly I am now teaching that to students who are born in the 21st century. So, not only do they have no memory of, say, the Cold War, they don't actually have a living memory of 911. And we're moving, you know, further along there so that I think, you know, what is history to them versus what is history to be is sometimes different.
