2:05Now PlayingSenate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) slammed President Trump's actions and rhetoric with the war in Iran, saying it had spiked gas prices, weakened American alliances and emboldened the Iranian regime.
"This is one of the very worst military and foreign policy actions that the United States has ever taken," he said at a Wednesday news conference.
Sen. Schumer pinned blame squarely on President Trump: "He backs himself into a corner with dangerous, escalating rhetoric," the New York Democrat said. "A commander in chief who is truly in control would never have gotten into this colossal mess."
The Democratic leader said the Senate would vote next week on a war powers resolution to cease hostilities in Iran and called for his Republican colleagues to join Democrats in opposing the unpopular conflict.
