Rep. Max Miller (R-OH) on Wednesday called President Trump's tariff policies a "net negative" for the vast majority of companies in his district.

"This tariff policy, it isn't working for them. And it is not a net positive. It is not a net negative," he told U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer during a House Ways and Means Committee hearing.

The Ohio Republican said he agreed that the U.S. has been "treated unfairly" by other countries in terms of trade, but argued gradual changes would be more appropriate.

"It should be done over a period of time, not just done overnight," he said.

U.S. Trade Representative Jamison Greer said the administration would not provide any exclusions to the tariffs but that there would be upcoming opportunities for the public and businesses to weigh in.
