2:45Now PlayingDefense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Friday the U.S. naval blockade on Iran was “going global” and would last “as long as it takes” for Tehran to reach a deal with the U.S.
“Our blockade is growing and going global,” he told reporters at the Pentagon. “No one sails from the Strait of Hormuz to anywhere in the world without the permission of the United States Navy.”
The secretary said the administration was in no rush to strike a deal with Iran, and warned the country’s leader to “choose wisely at the negotiating table.”
“A blockade as long as it takes, whatever President Trump decides,” he said. “Iran will never get a nuclear bomb. The choice is theirs, but with this blockade, the clock is not on their side.”
