Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said Tuesday that Democrats would oppose Republican efforts to include funding for President Trump's proposed White House ballroom in a reconciliation bill.

"We don't need this ballroom. You want to help national security? The ballroom has nothing to do with it. Help national security by funding DHS," he said. "We don't want to fund it. We don't want to approve it. It is not necessary. It's typical of what is wrong with Donald Trump, focusing on the wrong things that appease his ego and don't help the American people one bit."

The Democratic leader also explained why he has been wearing a bandage on his forehead.

"Closet door was open late at night, and it met my forehead," he told reporters.
