as posted by the channelWhen MeK was founded in 1965, it was not a cult; it was a guerrilla organization fighting against the Shah's regime and the United States. MeK was founded by three university graduates, and a few years later Masoud Rajavi became a member. After the execution of all of its original founders by the Shah's regime, Rajavi became its selfappointed leader, and gradually changed the group into what it is now. Maryam Rajavi was a mere member, only known as the wife of a highranking member of the group named Mehdi Abrishamchii. In 1984 (in a manner similar to David Koresh's actions) she was asked to leave her husband and marry Masoud Rajavi in order to become coleader of the organization, and did so.
