The idea of a small government is a Conservative principle as Stephen is pointing out in his piece. Government has a track record of taking someone else’s work, or over taxing it, or regulating it, or shutting all down. Stephen spells out how the government kills innovation, stifles growth, tries to pick ‘winners and losers - and always ends up authoritarian. We do not need the government to drive anything, we don’t need government in our free market, yet it’s exactly what we get. We need these conservative principles to dominate, so people can learn we do not need government picking winners and losers - a LIMITED government is a preferred government.
