Ukraine’s Military Situation
Ukraine is nearly out of artillery, relying mainly on drones.
They have scattered artillery systems (Polish Krab, U.S. Paladin) but must shoot and retreat quickly to avoid counterfire.
Mobilization is described as “kidnapping,” with older, poorly trained recruits.
Reserves are limited, with “rotating offensives” that are really just redeployments dressed up for propaganda.
Russia continues broad-front advances, especially around Kupiansk, preferring to grind down Ukrainian forces rather than rush for symbolic victories.
Strategic Shifts
Russia is positioned more strongly at the strategic level than tactically or operationally.
A major global realignment is underway: Russia, China, and India (together representing 3+ billion people and ~40–50% of global manufacturing) are increasingly aligned against the U.S. and Western Europe.
Russia supplies energy to India, even owning refineries there, deepening ties.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is creating an independent financial system outside the dollar, with trade in yuan, rubles, and rupees.
India’s Position
U.S. tariffs and pressure on India have only pushed it closer to Russia and China.
India needs massive energy imports to grow into a true superpower—something the U.S. and Europe cannot supply.
Russia’s long history of partnership with India (dating back to the USSR) strengthens the relationship.
Lavrov emphasized that Russia, China, and India are not just states but “civilizations” with shared interests in energy, economic growth, and social development.
Overall
Ukraine is militarily weakened and losing ground.
Russia and its partners are gaining strength through a new economic and geopolitical bloc.
The West continues to underestimate these shifts, clinging to outdated assumptions about economic leverage.
