With new reports all the time of children committing suicide because of bullying there are usually two big answers that are presented as to why this is happening:

One reason is that bullying is worse today due to the Facebook posts, tweets, snapchats, and other social media and digital outlets that allow bullies to hide behind their keyboards. Another reason often cited is that parents of bullies aren't disciplining their children; they don't care enough about their child's behavior.
