YouTube Description
as posted by the channelDave Rubin of The Rubin Report talks to Michael Shermer (science writer, historian of science, founder of The Skeptics Society) about his new book “Giving the Devil His Due: Reflections of a Scientific Humanist”. Michael discusses how the progressive left and liberals seem to be repeating the mistakes that Republicans and conservatives made in the past. In the 1960s it was liberals and the left that fought for and valued free speech, civil liberties and the first amendment. Michael discusses how the left and the ACLU have changed their position over the last few decades to shift to stifling freedom of expression and supporting cancel culture. He reveals how the arguments that the left uses to silence free speech now is not that dissimilar to the arguments that people used to suggest that Malcom X should not give speeches in the south. Michael also makes clear that you can learn a lot from people you disagree with and that is why he shows all of his students videos of Ben Shapiro’s conservative arguments against popular liberal positions.
