Dave Rubin of “The Rubin Report” talks to Yoram Hazony, author of “Conservatism: A Rediscovery”, about how liberalism has failed, why individual freedom is not enough, how to save Judeo-Christian family values, and why not having religion in schools may have a higher cost than we anticipated. First, Yoram discusses the history of national conservatism and classical liberalism. He explains why it was a massive mistake to think that societies could be based on individualism and self determination alone. He shares why the situation on the right is dire because some conservatives have lost so much faith in democracy that they are flirting with the ideas of dictatorship. Next, Yoram discusses why conservative policy will not be enough to defeat woke culture. He shares how Judeo-Christian values can be brought back in a Democratic way without being mandated by the courts. He discusses why conservatives must focus on strengthening the traditional family and why a focus on family structure cannot be overlooked. Finally, Yoram discusses how a focus on secularism and not allowing bibles in schools has had many unintended consequences. He argues that by focusing on the separation of church and state and religious liberty we may have severed any ties between the next generation and the bible, which is the foundational text for western civilization. He argues that we need to do a better job of explaining to people the importance of these texts and how they are partially responsible for the freedoms that we all have today.
