Trump's Iran War Is Making Putin Rich

Week four of the Iran war. Iran's government is stronger. The Houthis are about to clog the Red Sea. America is running out of missiles. And Trump just asked Congress for $200 billion — on top of the $1.5 trillion he's already planning to hand the Pentagon in 2027. A 50% increase in military spending. Pete Hegseth's explanation: "It costs money killing bad guys."

Meanwhile, Europe wants nothing to do with it. Kaja Kallas, the EU's foreign policy chief: "This is not our war." Finland's president Alexander Stubb is warning of a permanent divide between Europe and the United States.

Here's what nobody's saying loudly enough: this war is making Putin rich. Trump lifted sanctions on Russian oil to keep prices down. It didn't work. Oil is now over $110 a barrel, heading toward $120. Russia is pocketing an extra $150 million a day. Forty percent of Putin's war budget runs on oil. Goldman Sachs says triple digits through 2027. Some analysts see $200 a barrel unless a global recession hits first.

And Iran just knocked out 17% of Qatar's liquid natural gas infrastructure — one-fifth of the world's LNG supply. Twenty billion dollars in losses. Five years to rebuild. European natural gas prices have doubled.
