David Starkey STUNS crowd with crisis in Conservatism | David Starkey Talks

Recently I gave a talk at the Army & Navy Club in London in which I laid out starkly (if you'll forgive the pun) the crisis facing the Conservative Party. We're at a point where whole local associations risk going over to Reform UK.

But the crisis goes deeper than that, because the split on the political Right risks allowing Left Wing forces through in certain constituencies (see some of the recent council by-elections), whereas combined the Reform Party and Conservative Party poll at around 45%: enough for an epic landslide in the First Past the Post electoral system.

It's clear the country is with us, but the Right must be extremely careful about how it shepherds its resources in the run-up to an election, which could come sooner than you think. It's quite clear at the moment that we're not ready. Preparation is key.
