Update from the Bakhmut Front: Ukrainian Defense Ministry in their latest report mentioned that they had repulsed an attack in the town of Pidhorodne. Unbeknownst to casual readers / non-mappers of the report, one may not realised that this town an important location in the north-east outskirt of Bakhmut City.
NE of Bakhmut had been the most quiet region of the entire Eastern Front (Bakhmut + Siversk Front) - the action had always been in the South and South-east of Bakhmut City, and further way in the North-east at Soledar-Bakhmutske region.
The appearance of Russian forces in the NE of Bakhmut a few days ago, and then now the attack on Pidhorodne may signify Russian intention to bypass the entire city entirely and not choose to go head on into the heavily fortified city.
