Mary King’s Close tells a similar story. Once a thriving street, it was buried beneath the Royal Mile and sealed off during the plague. Families were trapped inside, and their spirits are said to linger—most famously a ghostly child who reaches out to tourists.
With centuries of suffering and fear, it’s no wonder Edinburgh’s underground is called one of the most haunted places in the world.
