This video is intended to be a full breakdown of the OpTic situation with Immortals Gaming Club, Texas Esports, and Infinite Esports. I don't have any insider information on the situation. I have been through Mergers and Acquisitions though, and I understand the behavior of investors and how the story was likely to play out.
There's a lot that Hector and Hitch just can't say about the situation. They're close to it and want to respect their investors at Texas Esports. I admire Hector and Hitch for not airing dirty laundry and not being those people. It's respectable and you can see how much Hector cares about OpTic Gaming and its brand.
M&A can be very confusing and tough. There's probably not going to be a lens into this situation for a long time, so as someone who has been there I wanted to create a video about it.
I feel like we'll be creating more of these videos about M&A in esports in the future. A lot of the owners of esports teams are young. Venture Capitalists are professionals, and negotiating with them for the first time means they'll usually come out ahead.
