Twitch preroll ads are plaguing Twitch and Twitch is in a difficult position with ads. They know preroll ads are driving away viewers but they must get streamers to run ads somehow in order to meet their fill rates.
The result is preroll ads are preventing new streamers from being discovered because who wants to sit through 5 ads to watch a streamer you don't even know? But most streamers don't even know they need to run ads to stop prerolls and so they aren't getting found on Twitch. This makes it hard for new streamers to grow their stream on Twitch. This is a classic new streamer mistake!
