0:24Now PlayingProtesters Swarm Senator Collins’ Office
News of the shooting spread quickly, prompting hundreds of protesters to organize in Biddeford. Demonstrators marched down Main Street holding signs that read “Abolish ICE Now” and “Melt ICE.”
A large contingent converged on Senator Susan Collins’ office. Video footage showed protesters crowding the street, while dozens pressed into the entryway of her building, pounding on interior doors and chanting “Vote her out!”
The protests directed at Collins were largely fueled by her recent legislative record; she recently cast a deciding vote to provide $70 billion over three years to ICE and Border Patrol without attaching operational reform requirements. While the protests were emotionally charged, police monitored the situation, and no arrests or major property damage was reported.
🔍 The Big Question: As tensions rise over immigration enforcement, a critical question remains: Why are anti-ICE protestors continuing to actively obstruct federal agents who are carrying out lawful arrests?
