As she prayed for the conversion of sinners, the devil tried to disturb her, whispering temptations to give up and turn away from interceding. Yet she would not be moved. Strengthened by the grace of God, she prayed with even greater fervor, entrusting those souls to the merciful Heart of Jesus.
This Monday in Diary Reflections, Fr. Daniel Klimek reflects on the importance of persevering in prayer for others, even when it is difficult. The Catechism teaches that “the battle of prayer is inseparable from the necessary ‘spiritual battle’ to act habitually according to the Spirit of Christ” (CCC 2725). The evil one seeks to discourage intercession because every prayer for a sinner is a plea for Heaven’s victory.
St. Faustina’s determination shows us that prayer is not only an act of love — it is an act of spiritual warfare. When we pray for those far from God, we invite grace into their lives, opening a door for the Holy Spirit to move. Opposition often means that our prayers are striking at the heart of the enemy’s work, and that is precisely when we must not stop.
