Jesus Himself tells us in the Gospel of Luke that “there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance” (Luke 15:7). This is not simply a figure of speech—it is a glimpse into the very heart of God and the communion of saints.
Confession is not meant to shame or discourage us; it is the Sacrament of mercy and healing. Each time we step into the confessional, we are welcomed by Christ, who works through His priest to forgive and restore us. The Catechism explains that reconciliation with God is inseparable from reconciliation with the Church (CCC 1445).
