17:27Now PlayingFaith is more than belief—it’s a living trust in God that responds to His grace. As Fr. Chris reminds us, faith is both a gift from God and a free act of the human heart. It’s not just saying we believe—it’s living in a way that proves it.
Faith grows when it is practiced. It deepens when we act in love, forgive others, and return to the sacraments, where grace is poured out. As Scripture teaches, “Faith without works is dead” (James 2:26). True faith breathes in obedience, prayer, and mercy.
Faith is not blind submission to a distant ruler. God is not a master demanding servitude—He is Abba, a loving Father. He calls us not to fear, but to trust. St. Augustine wrote, “I believe in order to understand,” and St. Anselm called theology “faith seeking understanding.” Faith and reason are not enemies—they are companions leading us toward truth.
Faith also unites us. Though we each must choose to believe, we live that belief together in the Body of Christ—the Church, which guards the fullness of truth handed down from the apostles. Through Scripture, Tradition, and the Sacraments, our faith finds its life and strength.
When the apostles cried out, “Lord, increase our faith,” they were asking for more than confidence—they were asking for grace to live fully for God. We can make that same prayer today, trusting that the Lord will answer in the same way: by giving Himself to us in the sacraments.
