Chris Alar, MIC, reminds us that prayer is not optional for those seeking eternal life. It is the soul’s lifeline to God, the channel through which grace flows into our hearts.
Yet prayer is not limited to our private rooms or quiet moments—it finds its highest expression in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the greatest prayer of all. There, we unite our petitions and sufferings with Christ’s offering to the Father. Every Holy Hour and every moment spent before the Blessed Sacrament prepares our hearts for this sacred encounter, deepening our relationship with the Lord who loves us infinitely.
If we want to grow in holiness and safeguard our souls, we must become people of prayer—daily, consistent, heartfelt prayer. The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 2744) teaches: “Prayer is a vital necessity. If we do not allow the Spirit to lead us, we fall back into the slavery of sin.”
Let us recommit ourselves to prayer—at home, in Adoration, and above all, at the altar. There is no surer way to Heaven.
