as posted by the channelSt. Faustina often spoke of her “misery”—not as self-hatred or discouragement, but as a deep awareness of her own weakness and tendency to drift from God. Even this great saint needed the Lord to purify her heart, to draw her back again and again into the truth of who she was before Him.
Fr. Mark explains that this is precisely why humility is so essential to the spiritual life. When we stand in the truth about ourselves—our limits, our faults, our dependence—we come into right relationship with God. True humility is the doorway to justice, because it restores order between the creature and the Creator.
The Catechism reminds us that “humility is the foundation of prayer” (CCC 2559), and St. Faustina writes, “I am love and mercy itself; when a soul approaches Me with trust, I fill it with such an abundance of grace” (Diary, 1074). When we acknowledge our misery, we make space for the fullness of His mercy.
