Jesus Christ is more than a product of culture or time; He is “the way and the truth and the life” (Jn 14:6; NABRE), and His truth remains the same yesterday, today, and forever (see Heb 13:8; NABRE). When society insists that moral teaching must evolve to fit modern desires, the Church proclaims something radically different: It is not God who must adjust to us, but we who must be transformed in Him.
Father Matthew emphasizes that humility is necessary to this transformation. Christ descended into our world — not to affirm our sins, but to raise us out of them. The Catechism teaches that conversion is a lifelong task, a turning of the whole heart back to God (see Catechism §1427). This change is often uncomfortable, but it is the only path to true freedom and eternal life.
The Incarnation reveals the depth of God’s love: He comes down to dwell among us so that we might dwell with Him forever. But that gift demands a response. Humility before truth allows God to lift us up, heal us, and conform us to Christ. Pride resists conversion; humility welcomes grace.
This message cuts through confusion with clarity and mercy. The truth is eternal. The call to repentance is constant. And the invitation remains open: Humble yourself before God, and allow Him to raise you to new life.
