Fr. Matthew Lamoureux, MIC reflects on the attachments in life that make us feel secure, stable, and in control; yet can quietly keep us from trusting the Lord fully. Jesus invites us to surrender these attachments, addictions, and false securities so that we may receive the promise of the Holy Spirit and enter into the new life He desires for us.
The old ways may feel familiar, but they are not enough to bring us true peace. Only Heaven can satisfy the deepest longing of the human heart. As Our Lady, Queen of Peace, reminds us, we are called to prayer, fasting, joy, and trust as we prepare for the great celebration of eternal life with the King of Heaven. Let us ask the Lord for the courage to put away what keeps us from Him, and allow Our Lady to clothe us in new garments of humility, love, purity, goodness, and courage.
