6:55Now PlayingFollowing Smack/URL's epic NOME 4 event, Cortez stopped by our VladTV headquarters for an exclusive interview with VladTV Battle Rap Journalist Michael Hughes to discuss his battle vs. TRex.
For those who don't know, this battle was by far the most disappointing of all the battles that took place at the event, for the rounds wound up being timed to 2 minutes on the dot, as explained in Hughes' NOME 4 recap. The timed rounds greatly interfered with Cortez's bars, as he was cut off in every round while he was in the middle of cooking up some schemes and mean punchlines. The fans were very upset by this, as were Cortez and even Smack.
During the interview, Cortez vented his thoughts on the entire situation, and explained how it was T-Rex who actually enforced that the rounds be timed exactly to 2 minutes. Cortez was obviously heated by the outcome of the battle, and explained how his mentality is to show no kindness to anyone who is not a true friend to him in Battle Rap from this point on. He also discussed how it felt like he was being deliberately sabotaged to have to "ride the bench" for a while since Rex has been booked for Summer Madness 4 to battle Charlie Clips, and Cortez has yet to lock in another big battle.
When the footage drops, fans will get the chance to see the battle for themselves and express their feelings on the matter. In the meantime, check out what Cortez had to say, above.
