6:40Now PlayingActress Naturi Naughton of hit Starz series Power sat down with VladTV and shared her thoughts on the popularity of shows like Power and Empire which feature predominantly AfricanAmerican casts, saying she knows many people doubted these type of shows could succeed. Power, however, became the highest rated show on the network since Spartacus in 2008.
Naughton also spoke on the challenges of being a Black woman in Hollywood, saying the popularity of Black women at the moment feels like a cyclical fad that can come and go at any time. She admits it can be frustrating and even makes her emotional. In the end, she simply wishes Hollywood could stay consistent in their search for wide varieties of women.
She also speaks on being blackballed in the music industry after her split from 2000s girl group, 3LW.
