Chinx Explains Name Origin and How NWA Was Such a Big Influence

Before the interview even began, the "Coke Boy" formerly known as Chinx Drugz corrected our VladTV correspondent when she introduced him by the old name. "It's just Chinx," he stated. The Far Rockawaybred rapper spoke on how the name originated in this VladTV exclusive, as well as how he got his start in the game by listening to rappers from the West Coast.

Chinx - who began rapping in junior high school - says his main introduction to hip-hop was none other than the legendary hip-hop group N.W.A. "I remember listening to the cassette that my uncle left over the house, and I remember hearing not just the curses but just the raw message and delivery -- my young ears never heard that before." Fast-forward a few years later, and Chinx recalls listening to Nas for the first time and wanting "to rap [and] emulate what he was doing." "That's when I knew I really wanted to rap," he remembers.
