She explained that the specific storyline of Lucious Lyon not accepting his son Jamal being gay is something that many in the LGBTQ community can relate to.
During the sit-down Serayah spoke about her experiences with Caribbean people being obsessed with Empire during her visits, despite past incidences of open homophobia in the countries. She then added that the Caribbean people that she met were more excited about the show than the fans she met in America.
The interview also touched on Jussie Smollett, who plays Jamal, not shying away from his homosexuality on Ellen, Lee Daniels basing scenes on his life, and more which you can hear in the above clip.
