On what the film demanded of its creators, Hutton said, "Anyone involved in the project couldn't be self-serving. You couldn't make it about you and what your character is. It's about 2Pac and 2Pac's voice. I had to follow the same rules because there were parts of that story that I may be in love with because they're close to me, but it's not about me. It's about giving a full understanding of an overly personified guy."
