9:04Now PlayingIn this clip, Ralph McDaniels discussed his start in hip-hop and particularly his foray into hosting a TV music video show strictly for the culture. McDaniels talked about starting the Video Music Box in 1983, well before Yo MTV Raps (c. 1988) and how barren the landscape was for those type of shows in the early '80s. Ralph also said that he got a lot of praise from people who grew up watching Video Music Box but the one person who stood out the most in this regard was Jon Bon Jovi.
