Jemele Hill responded to Marcellus Wiley's opinion that Colin Kaepernick was more concerned about being a symbol than playing in the NFL again after a failed attempt for the league and former quarterback to come together for a workout. Hill called the planned workout a sham from the beginning by calling out the location, date, and terms of the workout. She also broke down the mistrust between the two parties and said the league still blames Kaepernick for being the reason the NFL got "caught in the political crossfire of Donald Trump."
Hill added that the NFL, and football in general, is sport of conformity. Therefore, teams do not want to sign Kaepernick because of the influence that he could have on other players and they don't want someone whose voice could be more powerful than the league itself. Jemele Hill also called NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell the perfect fall guy for NFL owners, many of whom are Trump supporters, and said the league will never undo that history.
