In this clip, Buster Douglas explains why he fired his father as his trainer. Buster revealed that his father made things tense in the gym by being combative and sometimes violent with Buster's manager and co-trainer, who is also Buster's uncle. He stated that his father would punch them during disagreements, which led to his team walking on eggshells around Buster's dad.
Buster then explained how the historic fight with Mike Tyson came together. As the number two contender in the heavyweight division, Douglas' victory over Oliver McCall thrusted him into the Mike Tyson conversation because McCall was one of Tyson's standout sparring partners. He explained that the fight everyone wanted at the time was Mike Tyson versus Evander Holyfield. According to Douglas, there were issues scheduling that fight for reason or another which caused promoters to schedule Douglas and Tyson as a tune-up to the anticipated Holyfield fight.
