In this clip, Cashh discussed how he broke through in the UK music scene and recounted his work with UK’s foundational rap figures. He talked about the “Champion” Freestyle being a classic in the UK and how the buzz from that catapulted him toward eventually signing a publishing deal with Universal. He also discussed how his immigration status became an issue around the same time that his public profile as a rapper began to rise. He recalled covering up his more violent music from authorities in order to avoid being detained and deported due to the image that his music could paint.
Cashh later detailed being detained by authorities and what was going through his head at that time. He went in-depth about his time in immigration detention, recalling a moment when he heard his music playing on the radio and even saw detainees watching his music video. He also revealed that he was even supposed to be deported on his album release date.
