Joeboy sat down for his first-ever VladTV interview, and he spoke to Shirley Ju about growing up in Lagos, Nigeria with his extended family and having dreams of being a banker before setting his sights on music. Joeboy revealed that he was always drawn to music, adding that Nelly's "Hot in Herre" was the first song that he memorized. From there, Joeboy detailed working at various factories in Nigeria to pay for studio time and finally going viral with his covers of famous songs.
Moving along, Joeboy opened up to Shirley Ju about doing a cover of Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" that went viral. Joeboy explained that he had only 500 followers when he dropped the video, which he revealed was done on a shoestring budget with a DIY camera stabilizer and natural lighting. To hear more, including Joeboy speaking about only listening to the song once before making his cover, hit the above clip.
