In this clip, Smooth B talked about his first encounters with hip hop as a youngster in New York City. Smooth B recalled his first hip hop park jam where he was privileged enough to see Grandmaster Flash do damage on the turntables. However, the jam ran well over past Smooth B’s curfew and he was reprimanded for it once he finally got home.
Smooth B also talked about experiencing the loss of friends during the height of his career and how he managed to write some of his best songs during those moments of hardship. Elsewhere in the clip, Smooth B recounted getting in a fight with a club bouncer for hitting his little cousin. After the fight was over, Smooth B said they shook hands and had a drink like men.
