In this clip, GMK talked about his early interaction with Yungeen Ace while he was still locked up in Juvenile Detention. He then detailed how he began taking rap more seriously while he was serving time and revealed how some of the staffers at his detention center helped him by bringing him journals and pens. According to GMK, the entire facility began reciting his lyrics and posting videos of him on social media to showcase his talent.
GMK also spoke about recording his first single in 2018, which is when he said he first came home, He explained that it felt good to be home, but GMK added that people don’t always understand what people go through once they come home. GMK went on to reveal that he made “The Truth” when he got home, and he added that he didn’t have a manager right away. He also spoke about his song “Gang Thang,” which took off, and GMK added that it gave him reassurance that he was going in the right direction. Shirley Ju then asked GMK about his face tattoos, and he revealed that his Arabic “Allah” tattoo was his first one.
