In this clip, Katie Got Bands spoke about gang culture in the projects she grew up in, and Shawn Prez pointed to Eugene Hairston, the co-founder of the P. Stones, and he also spoke about the case of Eric Morse. Katie then spoke about how people in Chicago have grown up seeing a lot, and she explained that she was her mother’s “problem child” and only girl. Katie then revealed some of the worst things she’s seen growing up in the city, including violent situations, and she spoke about a lot of people her age having PTSD. Katie also explained how things have changed in the city to facilitate violence and a decline with the youth today. From there, Katie spoke about her rough upbringing on the South Side by talking to Shawn Prez about the gang-violence amongst kids that she saw along with the dismantling of the housing projects where she used to reside. She also goes in depth about what caused her to have PTSD. She also spoke about moving back and forth between Chicago and Atlanta.
