In this clip, Van Lathan and Vlad talked about the media’s role in the proliferation of violence in hip hop and how rappers have been subjected to entering deadly beefs with their peers. Van found it hysterical when Vlad threw out the theory that Quincy Jones should take some of the blame due to the infamous Vibe Magazine cover since he was the owner of the publication.
Later on, Van Lathan continued laughing at Vlad’s theory regarding Quincy Jones’s role in fanning the flames of the East v. West hip hop beef as the owner of Vibe Magazine. The pair later shifted the conversation away from Quincy and spoke about the lasting power of the media as opposed to the careers of artists and why there needs to be a symbiotic relationship instead of contentious and confrontational.
