Hector Berrellez discussed his first experience killing a man while working undercover in Mexico. Berrellez described how he was sent to negotiate the purchase of opium and marijuana in the mountains, without any surveillance or backup. He crossed a river and arrived at an encampment where heavily-armed traffickers were waiting. They showed him the drugs and agreed to bring them down to a location where Berrellez's team would make the arrest. However, when the traffickers arrived, a shootout ensued, resulting in the deaths of seven people. Berrellez admitted that he doesn't know how many people he personally killed. Despite the incident, his cover was not completely blown and he continued to work undercover in Mexico. He emphasized his approach of not pressuring the traffickers and maintaining friendly relationships, which helped gain their trust.
