Former Broward sheriff's deputy Raymond Hicks spoke about his upbringing in one of Broward County's roughest neighborhoods. Hicks became emotional when he recalled being 13 and defending his friend by punching an adult male and fleeing after thinking he killed the man. He continued to become emotional when he described his traumatic household, which included his mother being stabbed and his father serving eight years for shooting his friend, who touched his wife's leg.
