Retired DEA agent Hector Berrellez shared his remorse and guilt over his career in law enforcement. Berrellez expressed a deep sense of regret for missing important moments in his children’s lives, particularly involving his oldest son who died by suicide. Berrellez admitted that he carries guilt for his absence in his son's life as he spent much time overseas in dangerous situations. He also expressed disillusionment with his work as a DEA agent, especially since he engaged in deadly shootouts with drug dealers, while he claims that the government brought in large quantities of drugs. Berrellez described feeling tormented by his actions, particularly in relation to an incident where he shot and killed a drug dealer who apologized to him. This has given him nightmares and led him to question his career choices.
