In Tory Lanez's trial, revelations of a phone call and an Instagram comment from the accused were key pieces of evidence. The defendant, after being jailed, allegedly hinted at guilt during a recorded phone call to Kelsey. Though he did not explicitly apologize for a shooting, the prosecutor argued that the subtext was clear. The defense, however, noted that Tory did not clearly state what he was apologizing for. Later during the trial, his Instagram comment denying an accusation became another disputed piece of evidence. While the prosecution presented it as the defendant refuting his guilt, the defense cross-examined the police lieutenant who introduced the comment, suggesting that a celebrity like the defendant might not manage his own social media. Despite these contentious pieces of evidence, testimonies from multiple individuals formed the bulk of the argument.
