Williamson took a stand against race-based labeling by taking out an ad stating he was not a black actor but simply an actor. He compared himself to Clint Eastwood and John Wayne, lamenting the focus on his racial identity. Williamson also challenged Hollywood's portrayal of black stars as sensitive, non-confrontational characters, emphasizing the need for a variety of roles. Lastly, "The Hammer" shared his unyielding start-of-project stipulations: he can't be killed in a movie, he has to win fights, and he gets the girl if he wants her.
