Famed vocalist Johnny Gill recounted the early years of his career. Despite having no idea as to the success or failure of his initial album “Johnny Gill” in 1983, he continued recording and singing and was unperturbed by album sales. The continued progression of his career, including the release of another solo album “Chemistry” in 1985, began to make an impact on both Gill and the charts. Amidst career growth, his personal life entered the spotlight, with a revelation of a relationship and eventual breakup due to color prejudice with childhood sweetheart Stacy Lattisaw. Gill shared his views on color prejudice in the industry and his current state of self-contentment after understanding and accepting who he is.
