The sudden spike in winnings from Jack raised suspicions within the betting community. Vlad also asked about the infamous Pacers-Pistons brawl in 2004 in which Ron Artest played a pivotal role. Artest justified the event, stating that he was reacting in survival mode. Donaghy initially attempted to break up the brawl initially before stepping back and making notes of the incident. Despite the controversy, Donaghy continued his betting strategy, leveraging inside information to boost his success in betting.
