Smith clarified that he was in contract negotiations with the Warriors when he was traded to the 76ers, but was only ever offered up to between $50 and $60 million. He also shared his firsthand account of teammate Latrell Sprewell’s infamous choking of their coach which happened as he was about to be traded. Smith stated the incident shook him and forced him to realize that basketball was more of a business than a sport. Ultimately, the instance disrupted the team's chemistry, causing further issues down the line.
